Letitia James is a Brooklyn-born lawyer and public servant who has spent her career working in public service and law. Raised in Brooklyn, James earned her bachelor’s degree from Lehman College and her law degree from Howard University School of Law. She began her legal career as a public defender with the Legal Aid Society before entering elected office in 2003 as a New York City Council member representing Brooklyn’s 35th District.
James later served as New York City Public Advocate, becoming the first woman of color elected to a citywide office in New York City. In 2018, she was elected New York State Attorney
General, becoming the first Black person and first woman to hold the position. Throughout her career, she has focused on civil rights, consumer protection, housing, public safety, workers’ rights, and holding powerful institutions accountable.
As Attorney General, James has taken legal action against powerful individuals and institutions while recovering billions of dollars for New Yorkers. James has specifically made accountability a central part of her tenure. Her office sued Donald Trump and the Trump Organization over alleged financial fraud, and a New York court later ordered Trump and others to pay substantial penalties. Her office also pursued the National Rifle Association and its former leadership,
resulting in a 2024 judgment requiring former NRA executive Wayne LaPierre to repay $4.3
million to the organization and barring him from serving as an NRA officer or director for 10 years; an appellate court upheld that judgment in 2026.
Beyond high-profile cases, James has worked on issues affecting New Yorkers in their everyday
lives. Her office has fought deceptive business practices and predatory lending, protected tenants and homeowners from housing abuses and deed theft, pursued wage violations affecting workers, and recovered money for consumers and communities. In 2025 alone, her office reported recovering more than $1.1 billion on behalf of New York State, including funds for local governments, nonprofits, and restitution to individuals and businesses.
James has also pursued civil-rights and health-care initiatives, including defending access to reproductive health care and supporting stronger legal protections for patients and providers.
Her office has challenged actions it argues threaten New Yorkers’ civil rights and health-care access, while also pursuing cases involving discrimination in housing, employment, education, and other areas.
Finally, James envisions a New York where every community has a voice and every New Yorker knows that their government is working for them. She believes that justice should not depend on wealth, power, or where you come from, and that New Yorkers deserve an Attorney General who will continue to stand up for them. As she seeks reelection, James is asking New Yorkers to join her in building a state where fairness, opportunity, and accountability remain at the forefront.
So remember: Know the Name. Vote for James!
Saritha Komatireddy (R), who is running to be the next New York Attorney General, was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Indian immigrant parents. Following the 9/11 tragedy in 2001, she has dedicated her life to the legal profession in order to prosecute those responsible for the terrorist attacks and protect the safety of Americans in all aspects. Komatireddy first went to Harvard University for her bachelor's degree in government, and then to Harvard Law School for her JD, graduating magna cum laude, in 2009. Since then, Komatireddy has clerked for Justice Brett Kavanaugh before his appointment to the Supreme Court, served as Chief of Staff of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and served as a federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York.
During her time as a federal prosecutor, Komatireddy held several leadership positions, including Chief of International Narcotics and Money Laundering, Deputy Chief of Appeals, and a senior role in the National Security and Cybercrime Section. She tried eight federal criminal trials and argued more than a dozen cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She has received multiple Attorney General’s awards and other federal law enforcement honors recognizing her efforts to use justice to keep communities safe. From preventing and punishing cybercrime, drug trafficking, terrorsism, money laundering, fraud, and corruption, she has strengthened the security of NYC’s five boroughs, Buffalo, Rochester, and Long Island.
Now, she is a mother of four, a proud partner at the law firm Holtzman Vogel, and a lecturer at Columbia Law School. She wants to run for Attorney General to contribute more towards her goal of maintaining and improving the safety of New York. She has seen how incumbent Attorney General Letitia James has failed New York communities, and although she hasn’t held the office before, she is working hard to let New Yorkers know that she will fight for them and work towards justice.
She plans to hold non-profits accountable for not spending funds on decreasing homelessness and rather on other expenses, support local police to decrease crime rates, integrate anti-fraud initiatives so that the tax-dollars of hard-working New Yorkers are solely being used for the benefit of New York communities, protect victims of crimes (like domestic abuse), support small businesses, ensure that property taxes don’t hike and force families out of their homes, and do much more to make sure that New Yorkers have the best quality of life as possible.
So, on Election Day, don’t vote for someone who has failed you time and time again. Vote for Saritha Komatireddy because she is READY for anything! Be sure to follow her at @sarithakomatireddy.THHS on Instagram to learn more about how she will improve New York!
