Jumanne Williams, born in Brooklyn, is New York City’s current Public Advocate, re-running for the position as the Democratic Party Representative in the 2025 election. Williams, a Brooklyn Tech High School alumnus, earned his bachelor of arts in political science as well as a master of arts in urban policy and administration. Not only that, Williams represented Brooklyn’s 45th district in the New York City Council from 2010 to 2019, becoming the Public Advocate in 2019.
As Public Advocate, Williams is the bridge between New Yorkers and the mayor, aiding New York to become better for New Yorkers. Focusing on the everyday struggles in life, Williams pursues affordable housing, criminal justice reform, public health service, and protection of rights of immigrants and marginalized communities, all to change the constant social and economic inequalities he saw amongst communities growing up.
Being a current resident of New York as well as growing up in Brooklyn, Williams saw the tremendous increase in poverty, rent prices, overconsumption of drugs, and growth in violence. Knowing these struggles first hand, especially in our education and transit, Williams wishes to invest more into CUNYs and the Summer Youth Employment Program so that future generations will have an easier time pursuing education. Fighting for the working and middle class, Williams strives to make housing more affordable, ensure more security and resources to prevent violence in our communities, and invest into our schools and public transit.
Endorsed by multiple labor unions, organizations, and elected officials, Williams advocates for the best interest of all New Yorkers above anything else. Always standing on the side of working families, immigrants, and marginalized communities, Williams is a fearless and unwavering voice for justice, equity, and accountability.
For all your efforts, Williams will make New York a better place for everyone! Vote for Jumaane Williams for Election Day!
Raise your voice, make a choice, Jumaane is the people’s voice!

Gonzalo Duran is the Republican candidate for New York City Public Advocate.
Raised in the Belmont area by a single mother, he is proud of his identity as a Bronxite. Originally aiming to pursue a career as a doctor, he received his Bachelor’s at Fordham University in Health Science.
However, his course veered in a different direction after high school when he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years, later rising to the rank of Sergeant. As a veteran, Duran has experienced firsthand the struggles that plague the veteran community—for several years, he faced job instability and homelessness.
Determined to address the needs of his suffering community, he became heavily involved in Bronx Veterans Affairs and the Bronx Labor Department. However, their scope was limited and Duran sought to accomplish more. Through housing programs and workshops, Duran has advocated for mental health awareness, homelessness mitigation, and combatting unemployment. He founded Devil Dogs USA Incorporated, an initiative dedicated to helping veterans assimilate back into society.
If elected as the next Public Advocate, Duran will continue his mission—to amplify the voices of the unheard and to give New Yorkers’ suffering a platform. Particularly, he aims to further expand affordable housing programs, protect renters’ rights, and prevent tenants from being taken advantage of by landlords. Duran also wants to increase NYPD presence in crime-concentrated areas and ensure everyone’s voices are heard.
The current office does not advocate for the voices of minorities like Duran does, so help him stand up today by following him on Instagram and keeping up with updates.
He’s the right man with the right plan, vote Duran on Election Day!
Thank you for your consideration.
